The Zora Neale Hurston Fellowship, 2019

Ladee Hubbard has received the Zora Neale Hurston Fellowship from Jack Jones Literary Arts Retreat. The fellowship is for a black prose writer from the South whose work "documents the complexity and vitality of the American South” and is funded by Lauren Groff.

Ladee Hubbard has been named the second Gulf South Writer in the Woods.

Gulf South Writer in the Woods, a program of A Studio in the Woods and the New Orleans Center for the Gulf South, is designed to support the creative work, scholarship and community engagement of writers examining the Gulf South region.

Hurston/Wright Legacy Award Reading

The Hurston/Wright Legacy Award honors the best in Black literature in the United States and around the globe. Introduced in 2001, the Legacy Award was the first national award presented to Black writers by a national organization of Black writers. First fiction, fiction, nonfiction, and poetry honorees are selected in a juried competition. Join us to congratulate the 2017 nominees. Honorees speaking at this event will include Jacqueline Woodson, Patricia Bell-Scott, Ibram X Kendi, and Ladee Hubbard.

Workshop & Reading: LitSpace Writer’s Residency 2018

During her residency at the LitSpace Writer's Residency in St. Petersburg, Hubbard will be working on her followup to The Talented Ribkins. She will be giving a workshop for aspiring local novelists, which will be on Saturday, June 16th (1:00-3:00pm) at Morean Arts Center register HERE and a public reading on Sunday, June 10th (2:00pm) at The Studio@620. ($10.00 at the door.)
